Mamacita

San Francisco, CA
LoKo and I dined here a while ago, but i never got a chance to post up the pics off her camera (I forgot mine). When we were discussing our favorite things about the city, she said that she loves the crispy chicken tacos at Mamacita which inspired me to check it out. As a regular of the popular, trendy Marina restaurant, LoKo did most of the ordering.
Crudo de Atun
We started with the ahi tuna tartar with pumpkin seeds, mango, avocado, chipotle-agave nectar emulsion and yucca chips. The crudo was beautifully prepared and well flavored, packing a nice kick with the fresh mango and avocado.
Chilaquiles Casi Listos
I heard good things about the chilaquilles, so we gave it a try. The tortilla chips tossed with chipotle cream, roasted chicken, toy box tomato and gypsy pepper “rajas” was spicy and solid, but not as good as the ones from Primivera during Saturday morning farmers market at the Ferry building. We ended up boxing most of it up because it was quite massive.
Pollo Taqueri
The reason for our visit was up next. Loko's favorite crispy chicken tacos with cascabel mole, queso oaxaca, shredded little gems and refried beans. They were messy and tasty, and inspired the table next to us to get the same thing. Everyone has their own nostalgic, emotional reasoning for what foods they love, so although I don't understand LoKo's affinity for these tacos, they were a pretty good.
Budin de Cocoa Ahogado en C de Cocoa Ahogado en Cajeta
We finished with the baked chocolate pudding with candied pecans, “cajeta” caramel and dulce de leche gelato. Mamacita has tasty Mexican inspired food, solid service and a trendy vibe that continues to bring in the "cool" people from the Marina District. We had a good time and I'm glad I can say I've been there but it's more of a place to check out only if you're in the area.

Overall 6.5/10
