Hosteria Toledo

Naples, IT
Our first night in Naples we went to a Chowhound recommended ristorante, Hosteria Toledo. Many pizzerias and restaurants are closed on Sundays, but Hosteria Toledo was supposed to be a good representation of Naples cuisine. This was our only non pizza meal in Naples, tucked away off a quiet street.  Naples isn't exactly a clean or safe looking city, so we were lucky we found the place without looking like lost tourists.
Mussels
Everything we ordered was based off recommendations from the server but specifically asked for seafood recs. The first one was one of the best, simple prepared mussles which were really fresh and tasty. Nothing fancy, just great quality seafood.
Mussel pasta
Although a little redundant, our next course was a mussel pasta. The problem with this dish was the overwhelming amount of cheese mixed in the pasta making it overly salty. Also, isn't it a rule not to use cheese with seafood? Not our fave.
Seafood pasta
We also had a seafood pasta with a flat, thick, ribbon noodle. I can't remember the name of it, but it's definitely a pasta that is served often with seafood. Unfortunately, this was also a bit over salted but extremely filling.
Baked salt cod with tomatoes
We were very full at this point, but had already ordered the baked salt cod with tomatoes and it ended up being excellent. It was an extremely tasty, with a great crust on the large filet covered with a simple fresh tomatoes to top. It ended up being a solid meal as a whole, but we enjoyed our pizza meals much more. When in Naples, go for the pizza.

Overall 6.5/10
