Arizmendi's

Emeryville, CA
Arizmendi's is a co-op bakery and pizzeria, similar to Cheeseboard pizza in Berkeley. We have been meaning to compare the two for quite some time and got a chance too on the way back home this past weekend. The Emeryville location is convenient located off San Pablo Ave next to a CVS and a large parking lot. We walked around the back and sat at an outdoor table with Shadow and ordered a half pizza, lemon ice tea and a few baked goodies for the ride home.

Their story

The pizza of the day was herbed goat cheese spread, mushrooms and shallots. The half order ($9) for four slices differed from Cheeseboard in a couple ways. Primarily, it had a sourdough crust, chewer than that of Cheeseboard. Also, it was missing the drizzled flavored olive oil I'm so used to tasting from Cheeseboard. Overall a solid pizza, a nice easy location to get to and fresh Sunday option (since Cheeseboard isn't open on Sundays) but not good enough to uproot my top three pizza joints.
